How It Works

Our Testing Approach

The science to golf ball selection.

The Golf Ball Selector System™ is - powered by Equip2Golf's patent-pending MPI™ rating method - which analyzes and quantitatively compares and ranks a golf ball's cover hardness and compression, among other factors. The system then combines these analytics with those of spin, launch angle, distance and feel ratings derived from both robot and human golfer ballistics data. We've tested 86 leading balls produced by manufacturers including Bridgestone, Callaway, Maxfli, Nike, Pinnacle, Srixon, Titleist, TaylorMade, Top-Flite, Precept, Volvik, and Wilson Staff.

We'll test new balls as they're released and expect to cover all of the leading brands and ball types in the future.

We conduct tests with robots and real golfers.

Our comprehensive robot testing – powered by Max Out Golf’s patented IGMS System™ - measures actual launch conditions and accurately collects the performance data used by our system.  The robot testing is validated by testing with real golfers.

Our approach captures driver, iron, wedge, and putter data across a wide range of golfer profiles.  Additionally, compression, cover hardness, and hotness data are measured for each golf ball to assess overall feel.  Our test group of real golfers range in skill levels from a 10 handicap to a plus handicap.  Players used their own drivers for the test and they all used the same iron and wedge for consistency.  All of our test results are validated by Max Out Golf in a controlled indoor environment using real golfers.

We use robot testing to measure actual launch conditions. The Robot swing speeds replicate the swings of senior golfers, average golfers, and tour caliber players and are calibrated to match the swing speeds and launch angles of our human golfer testers.
